How many does it take....

Well, I know you are looking at this picture and asking yourself, "What does this have to do with the title?" Let me explain. Yesterday was chest workout, and we hit it pretty hard. I mean, we added in drops sets (do however many reps, drop the weight at tad and go until failure) and everything! I pushed the other GSC members and myself to the limits, but, we are not the same, so our limits are quite different. As I told them, I am like Superman, and yall are like the justice league (theres where the picture comes in!). So lets get to it....

Started with bench, and I started with 275. Knocked out 10 pretty easy, so went up to 285 and got 10 as well. When I got to 8, city of swolleton was having trouble spotting me, so I had to jump into my phone booth and let Super man take over. For my last set, I wanted more....so of course I needed a new spotter. Have you ever seen a kid try to help his dad carry out the trash or move something heavy, and they are more in the way then they are help? Ding Ding Ding!!! So, I ask my boy Forna to help me. I knocked out 8 with a spot, took it down to 225, and got about 6 more. From here we moved on to incline DB bench were I used 90's for 10, then went up to 100's and finished with 105's. Normally, your partners would put the weight back for you. But when I saw the sad look in their eyes when they realized it would take them both to move one 105 lb dumbbell, I just moved them myself! We moved on to Flys where C.O.S. challenged me to go up, and when have you ever known superman to back down from Lex Luger and Dr. Octopus! So I went up with no issues! :-) We finished off with decline bench and weighted dips. Now, this is where the "how many does it take" title comes in. On my last set of decline bench...they BOTH had to spot me! They will say "man, my forearms hurt!" but we all know the truth. They just couldn't assist superman with their mere mortal strength! Today is legs, lets see if they can keep up this time!

We are not the same!

P.S. I cant end a blog with saying something positive about my boys. I pushed them VERY hard and they made it through and are showing major improvements. They are my walking resumes. :-)

Wonder Years

What would you do if I sang out tune?
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song
I will try not to sing out of key, yeah

Oh, baby I get by with a little help from my friends
By with a little help from my friends.
All I need is my buddies

Unfortunately, some things never change (looks at Pursuit). Do you know that feeling you get when you haven't seen someone in a few years and they are looking Xbox huge? You try to contain the "oh-shit face" but it defeats you and all you can do is say "Hi", nod and think to yourself, "What the hell happened?" I have to make sure I never ever get to that point. I am getting older and the pounds pack on quicker than The Swolen One's plate on 15 cent hotwings day.

Although, I am trying to pack on some lean mass. This consist of eating around 4500 calories a day but its an extremely low fat diet. I won't lie, I have never had to eat this much before and its just another obstacle that I will have to overcome, both in dedication and finances. Its EXPENSIVE! Here's the meal plan:

Meal 1:
10 egg whites
1 1/4 cups pasta
8 oz orange juice

Mean 2:
8 oz chicken breast
potato

Meal 3:
Mass XXX weight gainer
2 1/2 cups of rice krispies

Meal 4:
8 oz ground beef (93% lean)
2 slices whole-grain bread
1 apple

Meal 5:
8 oz turkey breast
2-3 cps brown rice or pasta
1 whole grain roll

Meal 6:
Mass XXX weight gainer

Its not enough that I hate cooking, but now it seems that I am cooking all the time. I even feel like a soccer mom because I have to carry around those plastic food containers everywhere I go. I guess you can call me Whoopi Swoleberg for now. I am going to give it a couple of months and hope for change. Currently I am at 177 pounds and rising! I'm pretty excited but only time will tell.

One more thing before I post this blog entry. No matter what you do to better yourself, there will be people talking down on you. How is someone that looks like Professor Klump going to say that The Pursuit looks like an X-Ray model? Or how can I be called JJ from the Good Times on creatine? Hate on brothers because we are not the same.

Man, Fuck that Shit!

Alright, it's been 3 weeks and this shit still hurts. I'm talking about my chicken forearms. I've made great progress in my upper body and now I'm focusing on my biceps. Me and "City of Swoleton" had a friday arm workout about 3 weeks ago and during that time, I had a slight injury. I though I could play it off with my amazing work ethic that's been the inspiration for the other two Swole Brothers, but I couldn't. Each week, the pain kept returning like a stray dog that you give food too. It may leave for a while, but eventually it will return. I kept working out and each time I complained, the GSC would make fun of me thinking that I was coping out of a session. What kind of motivation is that? Kinda like a coach telling you to get back in the game after you just got a concussion.

Well, today I pushed through it. Yeah, the pain is still there but I'm getting through it. I asked a trainer what he thought about it and he mentioned that I may have injured a nerve or something. He suggested that I layoff the workout for a while, but his arms looked pretty small so he had no room to talk.
Week 1
Week 4

Week 16
I'm really starting to see results in other areas. (i.e. Chest, Shoulders,...well, upper body) I'm when I wear beaters now, they actually fit! And my muscles stick out the side too!!! I mean, If I had been lifting muscles for 10 years like the Swole One, then maybe I'd be a little bigger. But I'm happy with my progression.

Until then, We are not the same..................

If I eat one more salad...

Well, I am in the final stretch of my first attempt at a "slim down" diet, Week #8. It seems like it has been longer, but that is just the lack of food talking. 7 weeks of salads about 6 days a week SUCKS! At first it wasn't bad...now it taste like grass with vinegar on it. Not so much! But I have been seeing results, and that is what it is all about. As of today after the gym, I was 232 (from 242) so I am doing pretty good. Never really set a weight goal, more of a BF % goal. I will test that next week. Definition coming in pretty nicely. I think my legs/calfs and shoulders might be the most improved, but we will see when I take my progress pics. The camera dont like!

Today (Monday) the GSC did a chest workout. For some reason we were all a little off starting out(maybe the time change of workout, the 18 holes of crappy golf I played right before, or maybe it was just one of those days). Bench didnt go as planned, but after that we all picked it up on the Incline DB bench press (3 sets of 12 with 80 lbs/90 lbs/90 lbs), Incline Flys (3 sets of 12 with 60 lbs), Decline Hammer Press (3 sets 12 with 3 plates/3 plates + 25lbs/3 plates +25 lbs for 10 reps with an added drop set of 3 plates for 6 reps). We ended our workout with what we like to call 7's. Its a workout technique I pulled from IFBB pro bodybuilder Phil Heath. Basically you choose a weight you would normally do for 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps, but here we do that weight for 7 sets and rest only 30 seconds inbetween. It is a beast, but works.

Today we have legs. Didnt get as good of a leg workout as I usually do last week, so got to pick it up a notch today. We will see if these mere mortals City of Swolleton and Pursuit of Swollness can keep up with out crying like 2 school girls. But we shall see. :-)
